Acupuncture is the insertion of ultra-fine needles into specific points on the body; each point has a unique benefit. Traditionally acupuncturists believe that pain, illness or disease occur when the body’s vital energy or Qi (pronounced chee) is out of balance or unable to move freely around the body.
The aim of acupuncture is to encourage the free flow of Qi bringing the body back to harmony thus providing relief from many symptoms, easing pain and clearing infections. In western terms, evidence indicates that acupuncture creates biochemical changes which affect the body on a physical and mental-emotional level. This could explain why most people find acupuncture very relaxing and some come just for wellbeing treatments.
